Honest answer for most festival attendees: yes. Here is why camping usually wins over a hotel for Gorge festivals.
- No driving after late night sets. The last sets at Bass Canyon and Beyond Wonderland end after midnight. Driving 10 to 50 miles back to a hotel at 1 AM on dark rural roads is a real safety consideration.
- Camping is part of the experience. Both Bass Canyon and Beyond Wonderland have vibrant campground communities. Silent discos, camp setups, and the social energy of the campground are a significant part of what makes these festivals special.
- Hotel pricing during festivals is significantly elevated. Properties that normally cost $100 per night often charge $200 to $400 or more during major festival weekends.
