Camping Tips for The Gorge
These tips are based on general knowledge of The Gorge Amphitheatre environment and are not official Beyond Wonderland policy.
- Arrive early on Thursday. Camp opens at 1 PM and popular spots fill up fast. Earlier arrival means better campsite selection.
- Bring a canopy and shade cloths. There is almost no natural shade in the campground. June afternoons in the Washington desert are hot.
- Heavy duty tent stakes are non-negotiable. The wind at The Gorge is serious and constant. Standard stakes will not hold.
- Pack for cold nights. June nights at The Gorge drop to around 50 to 55°F despite warm afternoons. Warm layers are essential.
- A light up flag or string lights help you find your campsite. Finding your spot in the dark after a long night is harder than you expect.
- Download the Beyond Wonderland app before you leave home. Cell service on the drive to The Gorge can be spotty.
