What is Beyond Wonderland at The Gorge
Beyond Wonderland at The Gorge is Insomniac's Alice in Wonderland themed electronic music festival, returning again to this location in 2026. Two days of house, techno, bass, and drum and bass across three stages, with immersive art installations, costumed performers, and the kind of theatrical production Insomniac is known for throughout the venue and campgrounds.
The genre spread here is broader than a pure bass festival. FISHER and Kaskade sit alongside Zeds Dead and Seven Lions. You get heavy bass sets and deep house sets on the same day and the crowd reflects that. If you're coming primarily for bass this is still worth your time, but the lineup rewards people who move between genres.
Silent discos in the campgrounds typically run late into the night and often feature artists from the main lineup. Check the schedule in the app for exact times and lineups closer to the event. That's a genuine extension of the festival beyond the main stages and one of the more underrated parts of the experience.
The Venue
The Gorge Amphitheatre sits carved into the cliffs above the Columbia River in George, Washington. The stage faces out over the canyon and when the sun drops behind the hills the view is genuinely breathtaking. People who have been to dozens of festivals still talk about their first Gorge sunset. It's that kind of place.
Navigation warning: Search for The Gorge Amphitheatre specifically in your maps app, or use the address 754 Silica Rd NW, George WA 98848. Do not just search The Gorge. There's a different location near the Canadian border that maps apps route people to by mistake every single year.
The climate is high desert. June days at The Gorge typically hit 85 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit, slightly cooler than August but still intense. Nights drop to 50 to 55 degrees and the wind off the Columbia River picks up in the afternoon. Pack for both and you will be fine.
Getting There
The official Beyond Wonderland site lists five nearby airports with their distances from the venue. Pangborn Memorial Airport (EAT) in Wenatchee is the closest at just 43 miles and is worth checking if you're coming from the West Coast with flexible routing. Seattle-Tacoma International (SEA) is 155 miles and the most connected option for most US cities. Spokane International (GEG) is 137 miles and a good option for Midwest travelers. Tri-Cities Airport (PSC) in the Kennewick area is 90 miles. Paine Field (PAE) near Everett is 166 miles.
From SeaTac the drive is roughly 3 hours east on I-90 through the Cascades into central Washington. From Spokane it is also approximately 3 hours heading west.
Stop in Ellensburg: About 35 minutes before the venue on I-90, Ellensburg has a Fred Meyer and other stores. This is your last real chance to shop at normal prices. Pick up all your groceries, ice, snacks, and any supplies you need here. Fill your gas tank in Ellensburg too. Many attendees have reported very long security line wait times at The Gorge in recent years and you don't want to be sitting in line with a near empty tank.

Insider Tips
Tip 01 โ Arrive Thursday
Campgrounds open Thursday June 25. Arriving early gets you the best site selection and lets you get settled before the pre-party Friday night. All vehicles in your group must arrive together so coordinate timing before you leave.
Tip 02 โ Sun Protection All Day
June at The Gorge is hot and exposed. The sun in high desert will wear you down faster than you expect. Sunscreen, a hat, and shade over your campsite aren't optional. Take it seriously from day one.
Tip 03 โ Warm Layers After Dark
Temperatures drop significantly after sunset. The wind off the Columbia adds to it. A hoodie or light jacket for the evening sets is needed every night regardless of how hot the day was.
Tip 04 โ Stay Hydrated Deliberately
Desert heat combined with dancing and long days dehydrates you faster than you notice. Electrolytes in the morning, before you leave camp, and throughout the day inside the venue. Free water refill stations are available throughout.
Tip 05 โ The Gorge is Seriously Windy
Heavy duty stakes and releasable zip ties on your canopy and shade cloths aren't overkill. People lose tents and canopies to the Gorge wind every event. Lower your canopy when you leave for the stages.
Tip 06 โ Do Not Miss the Silent Disco
The campground silent discos run until 2am each night and feature artists from the main lineup. After a full day at the stages this is the perfect way to keep the energy going without the main stage production. One of the most fun parts of the camping experience.
Tip 07 โ Download the App Before You Leave
Cell service at The Gorge is limited and unreliable. Set times release on the Beyond Wonderland app before the event. Have it downloaded and loaded before you lose signal on the drive in.
Tip 08 โ Watch at Least One Sunset
The Columbia River Gorge at sunset with music playing is genuinely one of the most memorable things you can experience at an outdoor festival. Make time for it at least once across the weekend.
From the Community
Real knowledge from people who have camped at The Gorge across multiple years and events.
The Ellensburg stop
Stop in Ellensburg on the way from Seattle. Fred Meyer and other stores have everything you need at normal prices. Groceries, ice, snacks, drinks, last minute gear. Fill your gas tank here too. Security line wait times at The Gorge have been a serious problem in recent years with some events seeing waits reported at several hours or more. A full tank gives you the ability to run your AC or charge things while you wait without stress.
The security line situation
Security at The Gorge has been inconsistent in recent years under Live Nation management. Expect potential delays getting into the campgrounds on arrival day. Arrive early if you can, bring snacks and water for the line, and be prepared to wait. The best case is you are through quickly. Planning for the worst case means you are comfortable either way.
Shade is your highest priority
A canopy with shade cloths on the sides is the single most important piece of gear you bring to The Gorge. Tents become unbearable in the morning sun within minutes. Your canopy is where you live during the day. Use tapestries or flat sheets on the sides for shade, privacy, and to personalize your site. A rug or mat under it completes the setup. A tall light up flag pole at your site helps you find it in the dark after a long night.
Campsite tier breakdown
The campground zones have real differences worth knowing. Fox Den GA is what many attendees call the District 9 of the campground. Close to the Pivot and general store, non stop party energy, small sites, and typically the only area where anyone can walk through freely. Party central but light sleepers will struggle. Premier or Cheshire Cove gives you bigger sites, better restrooms, a fenced area, and a more settled crowd. Terrace or Castle Crossing tends to be quieter with mostly RVs and an older crowd. If you want the full immersive camping community experience GA is where it happens. If you want comfort and sleep without driving to a hotel, the upper tiers are worth it.
The walk to the venue
From GA camping the walk to the venue is commonly reported as about a mile, maybe a little over, and takes most people 20 to 30 minutes at a normal pace. The general store sits just before you cross the road and head down toward the amphitheatre. Hit it early on arrival day before stock gets picked over. On the way back after a long night your legs are gone and the walk feels longer, but keeping pace with the crowd carries you through.
RV versus tenting
An RV changes The Gorge experience significantly. Generator power means AC for sleeping, a fan, charging, and a freezer. In June heat an RV is a genuine comfort upgrade. If you're flying in, RV rentals through Outdoorsy are available directly through the Beyond Wonderland site with a discount code. Fly into SeaTac, pick up the RV, stop in Ellensburg, and drive to the Gorge. More expensive than tenting but worth calculating for a multi day desert heat festival.
Showers
Showers are available across all camping tiers. Lines get long in the morning. Go early or wait until mid afternoon. Bring a towel, shower shoes, and a caddy. A portable rinse kit is a practical backup if lines are consistently too long.
The Pivot and general store
The Pivot is the central campground hub with food trucks, vendor booths, and activities during the day. There is also a camping stage here for the silent discos. The general store sits on the path toward the venue. It stocks camping essentials but at premium prices. Hit it early on arrival day before things sell out.
Getting out
Break your campsite down the night before if possible. Getting out early Monday June 29 puts you well ahead of the traffic heading back toward Seattle. The difference between leaving at 7am and 10am can be several hours of gridlock on a two lane road.
Tips in this section reflect knowledge from experienced Gorge attendees across multiple events. We will continue adding Beyond Wonderland specific community knowledge as we gather it.
