Check the official bag policy before you pack. The Gorge Amphitheatre enforces a clear bag policy for venue entry. Verify the current requirements at pnw.beyondwonderland.com before you finalize what you are bringing. Policies can change year to year.
The Gorge in June is similar to August but slightly cooler. Daytime temperatures can reach 80 to 95°F. Nights drop to 50 to 55°F. Wind is constant and serious. Dust is a factor in the campground. Pack for both extremes.
Sun and Heat Protection
June afternoons at The Gorge before the music starts are hot and exposed. The campground has almost no natural shade. This section is not optional.
Sun and Heat
- Canopy with shade cloths or tapestries: The single most important item on this list. Set it up the moment you arrive at camp.
- Sunscreen SPF 50 or higher: Reapply throughout the day. No aerosol cans typically allowed on site so use lotion. Verify at pnw.beyondwonderland.com.
- Wide brim hat: Wear from the moment you leave your tent until the sun goes down.
- Sun shirt or UV protective long sleeve: More effective than sunscreen alone for all-day coverage.
- Cooling towel: Wet it and wear it around your neck during setup and afternoon hours.
- Personal misting fan: Battery powered. Immediate relief in the heat.
- Electrolytes: Essential in the desert. Pre-mix packets in water throughout the day on a schedule not just when you feel thirsty.
Cold Weather Gear
June nights at The Gorge are significantly colder than the afternoon heat suggests. By the time the headliners play late at night you will need layers. Do not skip this section because it is summer.
Warmth
- Hoodie or fleece jacket: You will wear this every night. Bring one you do not mind getting dusty.
- Light jacket or windbreaker: The wind off the Columbia River picks up at night and cuts through a hoodie.
- Long pants: At least one pair for the coldest nights in camp after the show.
- Warm socks: Your feet get cold faster than the rest of you.
- Sleeping bag rated to 45°F: June nights are cooler than you expect. A summer bag will not be enough.
- Blanket: Extra warmth at the campsite or to wrap up in during late sets.
Camping Essentials
The Gorge campground is exposed, windy, and dusty. The wind is the thing that gets first-timers every year.
Camp Setup
- Heavy duty tent stakes and a mallet: Standard stakes will not hold in the ground at The Gorge. Bring screw-in ground anchors or extra long heavy stakes.
- Sturdy tent with a rain fly: The wind can collapse an undersized or poorly staked tent.
- Tarp: Under your tent to protect the floor from moisture and rocks.
- Rug or floor mat: Under your canopy for a clean and comfortable living space.
- Camp chairs: Chairs are not allowed inside the amphitheatre. Keep them at camp. Verify the current policy at pnw.beyondwonderland.com.
- Battery powered fan: Airflow while you sleep makes a real difference on warm nights.
- Eye mask: It gets light early in eastern Washington in June.
- Earplugs for sleeping: Cheap foam earplugs separate from your high fidelity music earplugs.
- Solar powered string lights or a tall light up flag: Essential for finding your campsite in the dark after a long night.
- Headlamp: Hands free at night. Bring spare batteries.
- Wheeled cart or wagon: For hauling gear from your car to your campsite.
- Zip ties and duct tape: Bring more than you think you need.
- Zip lock bags: Pre-pack daily outfits to keep dust out. Protect electronics.
- Extra trash bags: Leave No Trace. Camp hygiene across multiple days.
- Portable speaker: For camp vibes between sets. Keep volume respectful during quiet hours.
Food and Water
Hydration and Food
- Hydration pack or CamelBak: For the venue. Free water refill stations are available throughout the festival grounds.
- Reusable water bottle: For camp. Must be empty on venue entry.
- Electrolyte packets: Dissolve in water. Take them seriously in the desert heat.
- Cooler with plenty of ice: Stock it before you arrive and restock ice from on-site vendors as needed.
- Airtight food containers: Cooler melt water ruins food. Pack food in waterproof containers.
- Camp stove and fuel if cooking: Check the current fire and cooking policy at pnw.beyondwonderland.com before bringing open flame equipment.
- Utensils, plates, and a can opener: Easy to forget.
- Late night camp food: Plan for it. After the last set there is nothing better than camp food.
Venue Essentials
Everything you bring into the amphitheatre needs to fit in a clear bag. Pack a dedicated festival day bag separate from your camp gear.
For the Venue
- Clear bag: Required for venue entry. Verify the current size requirements at pnw.beyondwonderland.com.
- High fidelity earplugs: Two days of loud EDM. Protect your hearing. Bring a backup pair.
- Portable charger minimum 10,000 mAh: Two long nights with heavy phone use. A solar panel add-on lets you charge at camp during the day.
- Valid photo ID: 18+ for entry. No expired IDs.
- Cash: Some vendors prefer it. On-site ATMs charge fees. Have some before you arrive.
- Beyond Wonderland app: Download and set up before you leave. Cell service on the drive to The Gorge can be spotty.
- Comfortable shoes you can dance in: Two long nights across uneven terrain. Your feet matter more than how your shoes look.
- Festival outfit: Beyond Wonderland is known for elaborate creative costumes. Alice in Wonderland themes, fairy tale characters, and full rave wear are all celebrated. Go all out.
- Light layer for late sets: Even inside the venue it gets cold after midnight.
- Kandi bracelets: Trading kandi is a core part of the Beyond Wonderland community experience. Bring extras to trade.

- Quick dry towel: Compact and dries fast.

- Extra socks: More than you think. Change them daily.
