What is Lost Lands
Lost Lands is the world's premier bass music festival, founded and headlined by Excision. It takes over Legend Valley in rural Ohio every September for three days of heavy dubstep, riddim, and bass adjacent electronic music set against a prehistoric dinosaur theme with some of the most powerful sound systems at any US festival.
The crowd is dedicated. This isn't a general EDM festival. Attendees skew toward people who came specifically for the bass music, many of whom have attended every edition since the festival launched in 2017. The campground community is a major part of the experience, with sound camps running late into the night between the main stage sets.
2026 is the ninth edition. Excision plays three distinct sets across the weekend including a 2 hour solo set, a B2B with Space Laces, and his Detox set. ILLENIUM, Subtronics, SLANDER, Seven Lions, NGHTMRE, Wooli, Ganja White Night, Virtual Riot, Flux Pavilion, Doctor P, Boogie T, ATLiens, Levity, Crankdat, Sullivan King, and over 150 additional artists fill out the full lineup. What is New for 2026
The following changes are confirmed directly from the official 2026 Changes and Updates page on the Lost Lands website.
Tickets and payment: GA and VIP admission prices are higher than 2025, while most camping types have held steady. Flexible payment plans allow you to lock in tickets with a low deposit, currently around $50 for eligible orders. Check the payment plans page for exact terms. Loyalty discount codes were sent to 2025 wristband registrants before on-sale.
Venue updates: The Crater area is being expanded again following 2025 congestion concerns, with improved foot traffic and fan movement in mind. Lockers inside the venue are doubling. More shade being added throughout. The Chomp in-venue restaurant returns with a reservation system for better efficiency.
Campground updates: A new expanded shower location has been added in GA Car Camping with extended hours and access for all campers. See the 2026 updates page for current details. Quiet Camping moving to a new location. More campground signage added for wayfinding.
Glamping updates: All Jurassic Glamping passes now include Early Entry for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at no extra cost. North Glamping area expanded. Climate control options now available to add at purchase.
Getting There
Flying in
Columbus John Glenn International Airport (CMH) is your target airport. It is served by all major carriers with direct flights from most US cities. From CMH, Legend Valley is approximately 45 to 55 minutes east on US-40. Book flights early. Prices increase as September approaches and Columbus hotels fill up fast during Lost Lands weekend.
Driving
If you are within a manageable drive of Ohio, driving gives you control over your gear and arrival timing. Legend Valley sits off US-40 east of Columbus. Parking passes must be purchased separately through the official site before you go.
If you're flying in: Rent a car at CMH. Rideshare isn't a realistic option at Legend Valley. The venue is rural and drivers simply don't operate there. A rental car is the only practical option if you're flying in without your own vehicle.
Where to Stay
The vast majority of Lost Lands attendees camp on-site. The campground is where a significant part of the experience happens. That said, Columbus hotel options exist for those who prefer not to camp.
On-site camping at Legend Valley
Lost Lands offers ten distinct camping options directly from the official site. Prices for most camping types held the same as 2025.
- GA Car Camping: The standard experience. Drive your car to a spot and set up camp. The full immersive community weekend.
- Quiet Car Camping: Moving to a new location in 2026 for better noise separation. For attendees who prioritize getting proper sleep at night rather than being in the middle of the party atmosphere.
- Tent-Only Forest Camping: Tent camping in a forest setting, no vehicle access to your site.
- GA Tent-Only Camping: General tent camping without vehicle access.
- Easy Camping: A more streamlined option for attendees who want less setup complexity.
- Camp Dino Divas: A program for femme-identifying attendees. Updated for 2026 based on feedback from the first year.
- RV Camping (No Hookups): For RVs without electrical hookups.
- RV Camping (With Hookups): Full hookup RV sites.
- Jurassic Glamping: Pre-set glamping experience. In 2026 all Jurassic Glamping passes include Early Entry for Tuesday through Thursday at no extra cost. North Glamping area expanded. Climate control options now available.
- ADA Camping: Accessible camping for attendees requiring ADA accommodations.
Headbanger Hotel Packages
If camping isn't your preference, Lost Lands offers official Headbanger Hotel Packages that bundle festival admission, Thursday early entry and pre-party access, exclusive shuttle service to and from the venue, and package-exclusive gifts. The program has been expanded for 2026 to include more hotel options. Book through the official Hotels and Shuttles page.
Transportation
Once inside the venue, everything is walkable. All stages and camping areas are accessible on foot.
Getting to the venue
- Driving: Purchase a parking pass separately through the official site before arriving. Day parking and overnight camping vehicle passes are different products.
- Dino Express: Local shuttle option for attendees staying nearby. Details on the official Hotels and Shuttles page.
- Long Haul Shuttles: For attendees coming from further away, including out-of-state travel. Runs on a schedule from set pickup locations. Check the official site for routes and booking.
- Headbanger Hotel Packages: Include exclusive shuttle service as part of the package.
Friday traffic warning: The official Lost Lands team notes that Friday entry is affected by Columbus rush hour traffic combined with the nearby Backwoods Festival, which also takes place in Thornville the same weekend. Additional shuttles are being added in 2026 but attendees should plan to arrive as early as possible. If you have early entry, arriving Tuesday through Thursday avoids Friday entirely.
The Lineup and Stages
Lost Lands is a bass forward festival. The genre focus is heavy dubstep, riddim, and bass electronic music. Crossover melodic acts like ILLENIUM and Seven Lions also appear but the overall sound is weighted toward the heavier end of the spectrum. The 2026 edition features an enormous roster across five stages. Source: official Lost Lands 2026 lineup poster.
Excision sets
As is tradition Excision plays three distinct sets across the weekend. A two hour solo set, a B2B with Space Laces, and his experimental Detox set. All three are on different days and do not conflict with each other.

Early entry pre-party
For 2026, the early entry pre-party is scheduled for the Wednesday and Thursday before the festival at the Prehistoric Stage and The Crater. Early entry passes are required and sold separately from main festival admission. Check the official schedule for exact dates and artists.
Stages
Lost Lands 2026 has five stages. Two main stages run the headline sets. Three additional stages cover secondary acts, late-night sets, and campground programming.
- The Prehistoric Stage: The main outdoor stage. Headline sets happen here. Full production with lights and pyrotechnics.
- The Crater: The second main stage with an enclosed, distinct experience. Expanded again in 2026 following congestion issues in 2025. Both the Prehistoric Stage and The Crater host the early entry pre-party on Wednesday and Thursday.
- Three additional stages: Secondary and late-night stages run throughout the festival grounds and campgrounds. The official stage map drops via the Lost Lands app approximately one week before the event. Download the app before you leave home so you have it ready when the map goes live.
What to Know Before You Go
ADA and accessibility
Lost Lands is a fully accessible event. ADA Camping passes are available and provide dedicated accessible accommodations. For all accessibility related questions email the team directly at ada@lostlandsfestival.com. Full ADA information is at lostlandsfestival.com/ada. Source: official Lost Lands ADA page.
Allowed and prohibited items
The following is pulled directly from the official Lost Lands allowed and prohibited items page. Read it before you pack.
Not allowed in the campgrounds: Liquor, generators (RV onboard generators are OK), selfie sticks, tanks of compressed air or nitrous, aerosol products except sunscreen and bug spray, bonfires, fireworks, full size propane grills or charcoal fires (small propane stoves are OK), tiki torches, sky lanterns, animals, laser pointers, drones, golf carts or motorized personal vehicles, spray paint, paint markers, stickers, flyers, bicycles, strollers, skateboards or OneWheels, logo-wrapped canopy tents, milk crates, weapons of any kind, knives, pepper spray.
Not allowed inside the festival venue: Outside alcohol, outside food, glass of any kind, weapons, knives, pepper spray, professional cameras or GoPro attachments, selfie sticks, tripods, laser pointers, drones, large speaker systems, tanks of compressed air or nitrous, fireworks, frozen water bottles. Empty reusable water bottles and empty Camelbaks are allowed.
Note on alcohol: Beer is allowed in campgrounds with a limit of one case per person. No liquor. No alcohol is allowed inside the festival venue itself. A cashless system operates inside the venue for purchasing drinks.
The Village Marketplace
The Village Marketplace is a dedicated area separate from both the campgrounds and the main festival venue, accessible to all attendees at any time without requiring entry into the main stages area. This is where you will find charging lockers, the 21+ ID check booth, Lost and Found, food vendors, and merchandise. A few things worth knowing.
- Get your 21+ wristband here first: The 21+ ID check booth is in the Village Marketplace near the tunnel. ID checks are limited inside the main venue so pick up your wristband before you head in. Booth hours: Wednesday 11am to 10pm, Thursday 11am to 8pm, Friday 10am to 8pm, Saturday 10am to 5pm.
- Lockers: Charging lockers are available inside the main venue, in VIP, and in the Village Marketplace. Reserve in advance. In venue lockers sell out. Village Marketplace lockers tend to have more availability but check the map when you arrive.
- Lost and Found: Located just outside the festival entrance next to the box office. Open 24 hours until 2pm on Monday. Pre-register your phone on the Lost Lands site before the festival so it is easier to recover if lost.
Merch
Lost Lands merchandise is available through the Village Marketplace and through the official Excision merch store at excisionmerch.com. Some items are available in the general merchandise areas. Certain exclusive or limited items are only available in VIP areas and require a VIP wristband to access.
Food and drink costs
Festival food pricing at Lost Lands is what you would expect at any major US music festival. In recent years, festival food at Lost Lands has run roughly $15 to $25 per meal inside the venue. Drinks have typically run $10 to $15 each. Water bottles have been available for $2. Always verify current pricing on-site as this can change. Free water refill stations are located across the venue and campgrounds so bring a reusable bottle or hydration pack. The most common strategy experienced attendees use is eating one meal inside the venue per day and cooking camp food for the rest. That keeps daily food spending manageable across a five day trip.
Insider Tips
Tip 01 β Arrive Early
The best campsites go fast. Early entry allows arrival starting Tuesday evening. By the time Friday rolls around, the ideal spots are taken. If budget allows, add at least Wednesday or Thursday early entry to your order.
Tip 02 β Layer Up
Ohio in September swings from hot during the day to genuinely cold at night. A warm layer for late outdoor sets isn't optional. Check the weather forecast for Thornville, OH the week before you go.
Tip 03 β Use Earplugs
High-fidelity earplugs are essential. The bass levels at Lost Lands are extreme. Quality plugs from brands like Eargasm, Loop, or Vibes let you hear the music better while protecting your ears across a long weekend.
Tip 04 β Download Everything Offline
Cell service at Legend Valley is limited. Download the official Lost Lands Festival app and your offline maps before leaving Columbus. The app carries set times, maps, and real-time alerts. Without it, navigating the venue gets harder.
Tip 05 β Bring a Power Bank
At minimum 10,000 mAh per person. Charging lockers are available inside the venue and doubling in 2026, but lines build fast on Friday afternoon. A personal power bank keeps you independent.
Tip 06 β Dust Happens
In dry years the dust at Legend Valley is real. A bandana or buff for your face during busy crowd movement moments is worth having in your bag even if you never pull it out.
Tip 07 β Plan Your Excision Weekend
Excision plays three separate sets on different days. His main headline set, the B2B with Space Laces, and the Sunday Detox ambient set don't conflict. Check the set schedule when it drops and map your weekend around all three.
Tip 08 β Register Your Wristband
Register your 2026 wristband after the festival ends. 2025 registrants received loyalty discount codes before the 2026 on-sale. Do the same for 2027 and you will likely receive early access and a discount.
From the Community
Practical knowledge from people who have done this multiple times. The kind of stuff that doesn't appear on any official page.
Power and charging
Multiple high capacity power banks are the standard approach. Solar panels are a worthwhile addition given how sunny Ohio September days tend to be. If your power bank runs low at camp, running your car for a while to charge is a reliable backup. Lost Lands locker rentals also include a complimentary power bank loan, which is worth factoring in if you're already planning to rent one. There are no electrical hookups in GA camping so plan your entire power setup before you leave home.
Cooling strategy
A roto-moulded cooler is worth the investment. How you manage it matters as much as which brand you buy.
- Pre-chill a full day before you leave: Pack your cooler with ice 24 hours ahead of departure. Starting cold dramatically extends how long it stays cold once you arrive.
- Separate coolers for food and drinks: Your drink cooler will be opened constantly. Keeping food in a dedicated cooler that stays closed most of the day is one of the simplest ways to make your ice last.
- Only load cold items: Anything warm going into the cooler shortens your ice life fast. Pack only things that are already refrigerated or frozen.
- Frozen water bottles as ice: Line the bottom of your cooler with frozen one liter bottles instead of loose ice. They melt more slowly, keep everything colder longer, and give you cold drinking water as they thaw. A real money saver versus buying ice on-site repeatedly.
- Airtight containers for all food: When ice melts it pools at the bottom. Anything not in a sealed container gets soggy. Pack food accordingly.
The festival sells ice on-site if you need a top-up. A significantly cheaper option is the gas station near Legend Valley, which has historically stocked ice for around four dollars versus fifteen or more on grounds. Worth the short trip in the morning.
Camp setup and weather
Legend Valley is a hilly, rocky hay field. Set up and test all your gear at home before you leave, including your tent, canopy, fan, and air mattress. Know how everything assembles and make sure every stake, pole, and connector is in the bag.
- A tarp under your tent: The ground at Legend Valley has sharp sticks and debris. A ground tarp prevents punctures in your tent floor.
- Good stakes and a mallet: The ground can be very hard. Standard wire stakes often won't cut it. Bring solid stakes and something to drive them with.
- Pool noodles on canopy corners: A well known trick for preventing water from pooling and collapsing your canopy in rain. Cheap to pick up beforehand and effective.
- Scotchgard your gear: Spray your tent and canopy with a water repellent treatment before you leave. Easy insurance against rain.
- Park car on the outside, tent on the inside: Positioning your vehicle on the outer edge of your site with your tent behind it gives you a natural privacy and wind barrier.
- Prepare for the tent to become an oven: By late morning the inside of a tent at Legend Valley can get brutally hot. A zero gravity chair under your canopy is a popular alternative for resting during the day when sleeping inside isn't realistic.
Health and hygiene
Conditions at Legend Valley can swing between dusty and muddy depending on the year. Prepare for both regardless of what the forecast says.
- A light mask or neck gaiter: Particularly useful near the stages and in large crowds when dust kicks up. Non-medicated nasal spray and eye drops are also worth packing for dusty conditions.
- Wet wipes are essential: Multiple packs. For your body, your hands, your campsite surfaces. They do more work than almost anything else in your bag.
- A fan with portable power: A small fan that runs off a power bank makes sleeping significantly more bearable. A DampRid moisture absorber inside the tent also helps with the morning condensation that builds up overnight.
- Shower caddy and flip flops: Bring a caddy for your products and shower shoes for the campground showers. Do not go barefoot in shared shower facilities.
- Headlamp: More useful than a phone flashlight, especially for navigating at night and using porta potties after dark without risking dropping your phone.
- Extra toilet paper: Lost Lands maintains bathrooms well but having your own supply is simple insurance.
Camp organization and security
Theft is a real consideration at any large camping festival. People do walk through campsites looking for easy targets. Lock electronics, merch, and valuables in your car or a festival locker whenever you leave your site. Do not leave anything worth taking visible in your tent.
- Save your campsite location immediately: The campground is large and looks completely different at 3am than it did when you arrived. Screenshot your GPS coordinates or drop a pin the moment you park so you can find your way back.
- Get your trash off the ground: Bags sitting on the ground at a camping festival attract insects fast. Clip your trash bag to your canopy frame to keep it elevated and out of reach.
- Extra trash bags and zip lock bags: Both pull double duty beyond waste management. Zip locks keep gear dry and organized. Large trash bags protect equipment if weather hits unexpectedly.
- Secure your campsite before heading in: Move clothes, bedding, and anything valuable into your car each time you leave for the stages rather than leaving it in the tent.
General survival tips
- Wear shoes you trust: Legend Valley has uneven, hilly terrain with rocks and divots throughout. Whatever you bring needs to be footwear you have already broken in. Your feet will cover serious mileage across four or five days.
- Overpack on socks: Between heat, sweat, mud, and rain, socks take a beating at multi day camping festivals. Bring significantly more pairs than you think is reasonable.
- A wheeled cart changes everything: Getting gear from your car to your campsite across rough terrain without one is a miserable experience. Borrow, rent, or buy one before you go.
- The gas station is your friend: A short drive from the venue in the morning for ice and food costs a fraction of what the same things run on festival grounds. Making it a daily routine keeps costs manageable across a multi day trip.
Tips in this section reflect common knowledge shared across the Lost Lands community. We will continue adding to this as we gather more.
What to Pack
- Sleeping bag rated to at least 40Β°F: Ohio September nights get cold. A summer bag isn't enough.
- Warm layers: Hoodie or light fleece for late outdoor sets. Temperature swings between 70 to 90 during the day and 40 to 45 at night are common.
- Rain gear: A packable rain jacket and waterproofing spray for your tent and canopy. Prepare like it will rain and you will be fine either way.
- Broken in comfortable shoes: The terrain is hilly and rocky. Function over appearance.
- High-fidelity earplugs: Essential not optional at these bass levels.
- Portable charger: Minimum 10,000 mAh per person. Solar panel add-on recommended.
- Hydration pack or refillable water bottle: Free water refill stations throughout the venue.
- Wet wipes: Multiple packs. One of the most used items at a camping festival.
- Headlamp: Hands free lighting for navigating at night and using porta potties after dark.
- Bandana, buff, or light mask: For dust. Non-medicated nasal spray and eye drops alongside it.
- Tarp: Under your tent to protect the floor from the rocky ground.
- Solid tent stakes and a mallet: The ground is hard. Standard stakes may not hold.
- Pool noodles: For canopy corners to prevent water pooling. Five Below carries them cheap.
- Zero gravity chair: For relaxing under your canopy during the day when you need to rest but the tent is too hot.
- Fan that runs off a power bank: Airflow in the tent makes a significant difference overnight.
- DampRid: Moisture absorber for inside the tent to deal with morning condensation.
- Zip ties and duct tape: Bring more than you think you need. You will always find a use.
- Extra trash bags and zip locks: Weather protection, organization, and general camp hygiene.
- Extra socks: Double what you planned. Seriously.
- Airtight food containers: Keeps food dry when cooler ice melts.
- Shower caddy and flip flops: For the campground showers. Do not go barefoot in shared shower facilities.
- Toilet paper: Bathrooms are maintained but having your own is simple insurance.
- Eye mask: Sleeping in a bright campground is harder than it sounds.
- Cash: Some vendors prefer it. On-site ATMs charge high fees. Gas station nearby for cheap ice and breakfast runs.
- A wheeled cart: For hauling gear from your car to your campsite across uneven ground.
- Lost Lands Festival app: Downloaded with offline maps set up before you leave Columbus.
